Abstract: All eyes in the self-balancing scooter world have been on Airwheel as it plans to unveil its latest creation – the first sit-drive self-balancing scooter A3 – amid a swirl of speculation and rumors.

For those interested in self-balancing scooters, the wait is finally over. On June 18, the company held a news conference in Wanda Sheraton Hotel in Changzhou and launched Airwheel A3 – one of the two new products released on the conference. Though speculation has been rife about what A3 might look like, there was basically zero tangible information on it until June 18. As the company puts it, Airwheel A3 is a breakthrough as it is the first electric self-balancing scooter with a saddle that permits the user to sit when riding. It’s a breakthrough not only because that previous models are either unicycles or Segway-like scooters (riders can only stand on the platform), but more importantly because that the saddle design enables the rider to scoot with A3 for a longer time without feeling tired.

Airwheel is always committed to promoting green travel and alleviating traffic congestion. Therefore, Airwheel aims to make its products an alternative to gas-powered vehicles. While the previous self-balancing products are suitable for short-distance trips, such as going from home to nearby groceries, or from home to gym, the newly launched Airwheel A3 is designed for long-distance trips and is intended to attract office workers to use it as a commuting tool.

Previously, self-balancing scooters are popular mainly among young people. Airwheel A3, as the spokesman of the company said, may open the mainstream consumer market and even change the commuting style of the urban people.

Airwheel A3 2-wheeled electric scooter has many other features, such as electronic brake system, smart anti-theft system, and hydraulic shock absorber. Nevertheless, there’s a little improvement that worth a particular mention, i.e. the top speed of A3 can be adjusted now. The default maximum speed is 18km/h, but the user can adjust the maximum speed of the scooter to a proper number through Airwheel APP installed on user’s smart phone which can be connected to A3 through its wireless interface.
